History of Boards and Standards

A Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board was established in October of 1995. This Board was established to replace a National Board outside a focal realm of other Chiropractic Specialties. The previous Board was the Chiropractic Rehabilitation Certifying Board or CRCB. The new Board is the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board or the ACRB,

The CRCB was involved with the criteria for the standards, procedures, and policies. The CRCB was also involved in a DELPHI study. When the ACRB was given control of the governance, these involvements were still on‑going and pervious.

The CRCB, along with Chiropractic Colleges and Universities in conjunction with Chiropractic Rehabilitation Association, developed a pilot Chiropractic Rehabilitation Program. The pilot program was developed from the exercise domain in the Chiropractic discipline, which was an instructional adjunct to the performance levels of active care with passive care.

The pilot program consisted of three modules. The content topics include assessment, management, and treatment of passive and active care. The content topics area specifics were spinal and extra spinal with involvement of the neuromusculoskeletal insults whether concurrent or singular. There were three (3) modules.

Each module consists a minimum of one hundred (100) hours. Each module needs to be passed successfully. Success is measured by attendance and grade. Each written exam consists of one hundred (100)items from each module. The multiple choice format consists of one (1) question, one (1) answer, and three (3) distracter. There was an oral and practical exam. The unwritten exam was a case study in which Judgment was applied to performance. There was a written requirement. This was a case study which had to be accepted for publication in a peer review journal.

The ACRB was made up of selected from *individuals who have completed the entire program successfully, passed exams, were published and were recommended by participating Chiropractic Colleges or Universities in the pilot program.
